Visit Malaysia - Sekinchan, Selangor
Sekinchan is a little town in the middle of the main rice-bowl area
of Selangor, in the Sabak Bernam district. This place is one of the two
major rice producing districts in the country with the other being right
up in Kedah. Visitors are able to see large plots of land cultivated
to produce the staple food of Malaysians. This area is also well known
for its mechanised farming methods and high yield of rice. The town has
a unique dual character - it is both a fishing village as well as a rice
Those who like to taste the freshness of seafood with delicious cooking, Sekichan will be a place for the seafood lovers. You may buy fresh seafood from the fishing boat at the jetty. In order not to miss the seafood you want to buy, please check the time the fishing boats arrive at the jetty, usually in the afternoon, from 3pm to 5.30pm. Sometimes, it may be in the morning depending on the tide of sea water.
How To Get There
Drive north along the main highway that cuts through the town and you will
see vast expanses of rice paddies on your right. Take the left turn when
you reach town just before the Sekinchan police station, and you see a busy fishing port.
